Technology
Opening
our new dental office has afforded me the occasion to position my
practice for the future. Our office now features a few state-of-the-art
technologies to improve diagnostic capabilities and enhance quality
patient treatment.
As you know, diagnostic x-rays (radiographs) are an integral part
of a comprehensive examination. For your benefit we have installed
the latest Planmeca Prostyle oral x-ray unit. This unit interfaces
with our Schick CDR- Digital X-ray sensors. This technology allows
us to reduce the radiation required for imaging by up to 90% over
traditional oral x-rays. We no longer require traditional chemicals
to develop the x-rays. A small sensor communicates with our computer
software to render an image (x-ray) that will pop-up on our chair-mounted
monitors.
To further enhance our diagnostic capabilities, you will notice
us using a Laser cavity detector by KaVO DIAGNOdent. This modern
technology will allow us to diagnose dental decay (infection) at
its earliest stages, thus reducing the time between onset, diagnosis
and treatment of the infection. This enhances our ability to preserve
as much of your natural tooth structure as we remove the decay.
Our
new dental chairs by A-dec, a pioneering dental manufacturer, include
a self-contained water system. With this water bottle delivery system
we can use distilled water for all of our handpieces, scalers and
syringes during your treatment.
Documentation is essential for comprehensive care. For that reason
we will use the latest dental software by Eaglesoft to chart your
progress at our office. This software will allow us to chart by
voice command and with integrated digital photography. During your
visits we will capture a static "picture" of your oral
health and condition. These chart notes and photographs will allow
us to easily follow changes at subsequent recare visits. Please
ask us for "before and after" photos of your treatment
if you so desire; otherwise we will store them on our computer for
the future.
As always, do not hesitate to ask me or my staff if you have any
questions.
